Following new Twitter restrictions, Nigerians are massively moving to embrace the newly launched social microblogging app, Truth Social app.

The development followed a new restriction announced on Saturday by Elon Musk.

Musk have been introducing new restrictions and monetization tactics since acquiring the Twitter platform last year for $44 billion.

Nigerian users began their dissatisfaction with Twitter’s policies after it announced the introduction of a controversial feature called Twitter Blue, a paid verification badge priced at around $8 monthly.

The move stripped many Nigerian influencers of their blue tick verification badge which had reduced their influencing power among users.

Many of the users criticized Musk’s monetization strategy and policies in handling the platform.

The most recent alteration by the billionaire is the limitation of the number of tweets that can be read by various categories of users.

Musk said unverified accounts were restricted to 600 posts and verified accounts to 6000 posts, and new unverified accounts to only 50 posts.

According to him, he said the new change was a temporary measure to combat data scraping and system manipulation by third-party platforms.

Many Nigerian users have kicked against new limitations with a new hashtag #GoodbyeTwitter which has gained traction on social media platforms as disgruntled users bid farewell to Twitter and seek alternatives.

TECHNOCRATMEDIA observed that Truth Social is gaining attention among Nigerians.

The social media platform is being spearheaded by the world’s business leader and former US President, Donald Trump. The platform offers alternative services for users.
