The outgoing chairman, house committee on education, science and technology in the Ondo State House of Assembly, Olusegun Ajimotokin who doubles as the deputy majority leader of the assembly has held a valedictory meeting with education stakeholders in the state.
The meeting which took place at the conference room of the Ondo State House of Assembly welcomed all stakeholders and explained that the meeting was meant to appraise the level of work done and as well highlight impending challenges in the education sector of the state which would form the basis of the comprehensive report of his committee that would be submitted to the leadership of the house and the governor of the State, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN to ensure continuity in the spirit of moving education forward in Ondo State.
While responding, the stakeholders expressed their satisfaction with the style of operation, oversight and overall performance of the education committee under his leadership which had added values and ensured smooth functionality of agencies, ministries and organizations under the coverage of the committee across the state. They attested that the education committee under the leadership of Olusegun Ajimotokin remains one of the best in the history of the Ondo State House of Assembly. Also, the president of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools, Ondo State Chapter noted that the performance of the lawmaker earned him the award of ‘Ambassador of Education in Nigeria’ bestowed on him last year by the association during its national convention in Ado-Ekiti.
Head of agency, ministry, board and organizations were made to present the report of current situations in the organizations to capture the true state of things to ascertain what should be put in the comprehensive report for the members of the incoming education committee. Stakeholders at the meeting include directors and permanent secretaries from the State Universal Basic Education (SUBEB), State Information Technology Agency (SITA), State Library Board, State Scholarship Board, Board for Adults and Vocational Education, Ministry of Education, and the Ondo State President and members of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools among others with the showers of emotional farewell speeches.
The lawmaker thanked the stakeholders for their supports and cooperation during his tenure and enjoyed them to cooperate with the lawmaker coming to succeed him as the chairman of the committee.
He equally used the opportunity of the meeting to thank the members of staff of the assembly for their dedication to duty and support he enjoyed in the last four years as a lawmaker.
