Ondo 2020: IG deploys 30,000 police office for On do poll

Ahead of Ondo State gubernatorial poll, the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Adamu has approved the deployment of 30,000 policemen to the state to ensure adequate security and maintain peace and order before, during, and after the election.
This disclosure was made by the Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Bolaji Salami, while addressing newsmen in his office in Akure, the state capital, saying that the police officers will be deployed across the 18 local governments in the state.
He said, “adequate preparations have been concluded to enable the state to have a free and fair election. The Force headquarters have posted 30,000 policemen to all the 18 local government areas in the state.”
“The Inspector-General of Police has mandated every polling unit to be secured by four highly committed and professional police officers. This is to ensure peace and security for every candidate and voters for credible election in the state.”
Salami assured that thuggery and violence will be minimized to the lowest level and he assured all parties to go about their campaigns and on the day of the election, they should go to their polling units to vote with no fear of violence.
“Assistance from nearby commands have been put in place, adequate security is assured for voters and officials during, before and after the elections.
He added that all borders linking the state with other states will be manned by police officers and travelers will be properly checked to ensure they are not smuggling in weapons into the state.
