Ondo State Government has said it has not given any directives for the reopening of primary and tertiary institutions, public and private in the state. While only Senior Secondary School class 3 and Junior Secondary School class 3 students were allowed to resume. The government made this directive in an effort to mitigate the further spread of the Corona Virus in the State.
This was made known by the Chairman of the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Covid19, Professor Adesegun Fatusi while addressing newsmen in Akure the state capital.
Professor Fatusi said that the decision of the government to retrain schools from resuming is for the best interest of the people. He also pleaded to all stakeholders to cooperate with the government as it’s trying to curtail the spread of the dangerous virus in the state.
He said, “All school authorities – both public and private – are enjoined to comply fully with the government’s directive and not to reopen schools until the state government expressly permits such.
He added that the government will penalize any institution found reopening contrary to the government’s directives.
Fatusi also urged citizens of Ondo State to adhere strictly to all the COVID-19 precautionary measures.
