When asked at the town hall panel about the errors in the bill. He said: “I am feeling uncomfortable because of the conversations going on here.”

“It’s very embarrassing that drafting errors were discovered in the bill. The errors were committed by the consultants hired for the job. I’m ashamed. Nigerians deserve our apologies.”, he said.

When asked how the consultants were paid. “The consultants were paid through grants from other organisations not from the account of the National Assembly.”

Meanwhile, the spokesman of the Senate, Ajibola Basiru said they were no errors in the bill.

But the spokesman of the house of representatives, Mr Ben Kalu apologised to Nigerians for the errors.

After President Muhammadu Buhari declined assent on the bill, Yiaga Africa and other civil society organisations had pointed out ten significant drafting errors in the bill.

Within a few days, TECHNOCRAT MEDIA will be making a freedom of information (FOI) request to the national assembly to unravel the name of the consultants, the amount they were paid, and from which account they were paid.
