Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla Inc., who just acquired Twitter, the microblogging site, has sacked three top executives of the company.

The billionaire took the decision hours after completing the acquisition of Twitter for $44 billion.

During negotiations for the acquisition, Mr Musk had promised not to fire 75 percent of Twitter staff.

The top executives affected by the sack include; Twitter’s chief executive officer, Parag Agrawal; Ned Segal, chief financial officer; and Vijaya Gadde, the firm’s top legal and policy executive.

Gadde was said to have been fired for playing a major role in the ban of Donald Trump, former president of the United States of America, from using Twitter.

In January 2021, the company permanently suspended Mr Trump who was having 80 million followers from the platform, following the attack by his supporters on the U.S. Capitol.

According to Twitter, it was decided after the January 6 riot “due to the risk of further incitement of violence.”

The former US president responded to the development, saying he would not return to the microblogging site even if Twitter reinstate his account. He said he would stick to his own social platform known as “Truth Social”.

However, in May, Mr Musk promised to reinstate Mr Trump’s account if he succeeds in acquiring Twitter.

According to him, it was a “mistake” for Twitter to permanently ban the former US president.

Meanwhile, the billionaire said his decision to buy Twitter was for humanity.

“The reason I acquired Twitter is that it is important to the future of civilization to have a common digital town square, where a wide range of beliefs can be debated in a healthy manner, without resorting to violence. There is currently great danger that social media will splinter into far right-wing and far left-wing echo chambers that generate more hate and divide our society,” Mr Musk said.
