President Muhammadu Buhari has written to the senate seeking approval to pay various sums as judgment debts incurred by the country.

Ahmad Lawan, president of the senate read Buhari’s letter seeking the upper chamber’s approval on Wednesday at a plenary.

According to the president, the amounts include $566,754,584, £98,526,012 and N226 billion.

The amounts are being owed by the federal government through its ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) through the issuance of promissory notes.
