Tinubu, Shettima receives GCFR, GCON ahead of May 29 inauguration

Ahead of May 29 inauguration, President Muhammadu Buhari has conferred Nigeria’s highest national, Grand Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (GCFR) on the president-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Ahead of May 29 inauguration, President Muhammadu Buhari has conferred Nigeria’s highest national, Grand Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic (GCFR) on the president-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

The vice president-elect, Kashim Shettima was also conferred with the Grand Commander of the Order of the Niger (GCON).

The investiture ceremony took place at the State House on Thursday in Abuja.

The event also marked the official handover of transition documents from Buhari to Tinubu.

Speaking at the event, the president said he is confident that Nigeria is in capable hands.

Buhari said he has run a good race while calling on Tinubu not to forget that leadership comes with responsibility.

Last week, the presidential transition council (PTC) headed by the secretary to the government of the federation, Boss Mustapha, released the programme of activities to usher in the Tinubu administration.

Tinubu’s inauguration is on May 29 at Eagle Square in Abuja.
