The minister of finance and coordination minister of the economy, Wale Edun, has submitted the proposal for a new minimum wage to President Tinubu.
The proposal contains the options to be considered by the government and cost projections.

On Tuesday amid the nationwide strike by organised labour, the president directed Edun to submit a proposal for a new minimum wage figure and an analysis of the associated costs to be incurred within 48 hours.
