Ondo South has been disconnected from the national grid for over twelve years.

“He announced that the state has issued an interim Independent Electricity Distribution License to Anyingba Independent Electricity Distribution Company, authorising them to operate in the Southern Senatorial District, covering the towns of Ese-Odo, Irele, Okitipupa, and Ilaje. This, he said, would enhance electricity distribution and service quality,” Ebenezar Adeniyan, press secretary to the governor quoted him in a press statement.

“Additionally, a provisional license has been issued to BEDC Electricity Ondo Limited, a Benin Electricity Distribution Company subsidiary, in line with new regulations by the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC). The company will take over electricity management in Ondo State.”

Recall that on May 22, 2024, President Tinubu inaugurated the N8.1 billion Ode-Erinje Electricity Project 132KV/33KV completed by the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) in the efforts to restore power to the Ondo South Senatorial District.
