PROMAD, a civic tech nonprofit organisation says it has created new and restructured existing departments in the organisation to meet its growth needs.
A statement on Wednesday signed by its communications assistant, Oluwatosin Akinnuoye, described the move as a strategic effort towards enhancing collaborations, improving operational efficiency and ensuring the long-term sustainability of the organisation.
“According to our founder and executive Daisi Omokungbe in a memo on Monday, the restructuring is part of the organisation’s commitment to scale its work in driving accountable democratic governance, participation and sustainable development through innovative and data-driven approaches,” the statement reads.
The statement indicated that the newly created Research, Analytics and Insights Department (RAID) has the mandate to strengthen PROMAD’s research capabilities by leveraging artificial intelligence (AI), data and analytics.
“RAID will generate actionable insights to inform advisory services, advocacy campaigns and policy interventions aimed at fostering democratic governance and driving sustainable reforms in the public sector.”
The Finance and Fundraising Department has been renamed the Finance and Compliance Department (FCD) to oversee financial planning, management, and budget development, as well as internal and external controls by enforcing all financial management-related policies within the organisation.
“Its expanded responsibilities include procurement management, funds disbursement, overseeing asset register and payroll management, accounting, tax remittances, internal audit and collaboration with external auditors and regulatory authorities to ensure continued compliance with financial and regulatory provisions set by the government,” the statement added.
It also stated that the Technology, Research, and Innovation Department has been renamed as the Technology and Innovations Department (TID).
“The Technology and Innovations Department will focus on integrating advanced technological solutions into PROMAD’s operations. This department will support the design, development, management and evaluation of the performance of AI and civic tech products, digital assets including websites and mobile applications, and other productivity tools. TID will also oversee the maintenance and functionality of the organisation’s technical equipment, ensuring smooth operations and driving innovation and excellence.”
Akinnuoye noted that other departments including the Administration and Operations Department (AOD); Programmes and Partnerships Department (PPD); Impact and Communications Department (ICD) and Office of the Founder and Executive Director (OFED) will continue to operate under their current mandates, providing critical support and maintaining their key roles within the organisation:
“These structural changes and efforts are being undertaken to match our strategy and put in place structures to accommodate our fast growth as a nonprofit and civil society organisation engineered to shape development and drive lasting change in Africa,” Akinnuoye quoted the executive director said.
The organisation said it is committed to growth and will continue to scale its programmes, campaigns, accountability and partnership initiatives as well as expand its team to support its ambitious goals.
