AKURE – The 2021 International Women’s Day tagged ” Women in leadership: All Equal Future in a Covid-19 World” held at the international culture and event center (The Dome) in Akure, Ondo State.
The Program is aimed at celebrating women across the globe.
The Chief Host of the program Arabinrin Betty Akeredolu was ably represented by the wife of the Deputy Governor, Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa.
The program started around 12 pm with prayers, and a Welcome address by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Women Affairs, Mrs. Kehinde Adeniran, who welcomed all women seated and also stated that the program is to empower women in all sectors of their dealings.
Mrs. Tolu Oginni, the State Coordinator of Breast Cancer Association of Nigeria (BRECAN) Ondo State Chapter, has sensitized women on the dangers of breast cancer and urged them to speak up when need be.
Justice Development and Peace Centre, JDPC also called on the Ondo State government to re-vitalize the Adult program to allow more women to gain a basic education. Studies have shown that basic education influence to a large extent the decision-making of women which will have an impact on the growth of society.
Center for Gender-Based Violence, (CGBV) has also urged all women to speak up against any Domestic Violence, they are passing through.
