ABUJA – A nonprofit program established by Technocrat Media Nigeria, Follow The Projects for the tracking and monitoring of public projects for social accountability says ministries, departments, and agencies of the federal government are hoarding information on the implementation of zonal intervention projects.

Daisi Omokungbe, the Director of the program said this in a statement made available to news outlets in Abuja on Tuesday.

He said “some of the MDAs are still in the habit of hoarding information by their acts of not responding to freedom of information (FOI) requests submitted to them by civil society organisations.

Mr Omokungbe explained that between July and August, his organisation has written and submitted close to twenty freedom of information requests to concerned MDAs, only a few of them had responded to the requests by providing the needed data on the projects.

“Some responded within seven days. Some called us and while some don’t even bother to make any attempt up till now,”

“We submitted online and hard copy applications so as to ensure we explore all the available means and for them not to claim they didn’t receive them.”

“We are currently tracking 2019 and 2020 zonal intervention projects in Ondo state and Abuja, the federal capital territory,”

We may have no option than to turn to the court to test the provisions of the freedom of information Act, he said.
