President Bola Tinubu has signed the newly passed minimum wage bill by the National Assembly into law.

The assent of the president brings an end to months of deliberations between government authorities, labour unions, and the private sector in the country.

Tinubu signed the bill on Monday at the State House in Abuja.

Godswill Akpabio, President of the Senate led a delegation of the National Assembly to witness the presidential assent.

Recall that DailyAgent reported that the organised labour comprising of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) had been asking the government to increase the minimum wage following the removal of fuel subsidy and the untold hardship that followed various policies of the Tinubu-led administration.

The country’s headline inflation has climbed up to 34.19 percent, the highest in the last twenty-five years.
