The unknown gunmen invaded the palace of Oba. Oyewumi on Thursday evening.

It was reliably gathered that the abductors, numbering six, came into the palace around 8.30pm after scaling the fence and shooting sporadically to scare the occupants.

A source said, ”In the process of shooting, they gained entrance into the bungalow where the traditional ruler and members of his family were and started beating them.

“They were asking after the monarch which showed that they really came for him and not any other person.

“Immediately they sighted him, they dragged him and took him out of the palace.”

According to Report The Ekiti State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Abutu, said the gunmen stormed the palace with assorted rifles and traumatized the occupants before whisking away the monarch.

He however said necessary steps have been taken to rescue the abductee and apprehend the culprits.
