Achievers University: COREN Registrar Commissions Engineering Complex, delivers 10th convocation lecture

OWO – As part of the events of the 10th convocation of the Achievers University, has seen the commissioning of the first phase of the college of engineering and technology complex which took place on Friday, at the university’s permanent site.

The Complex was commissioned by Prof. Joseph Odigure, Chief Executive Registrar of the Council for the Regulation Engineering in Nigeria, COREN.

Prof. Odigure expressed how happy he was to be part of the project and also promised to contribute to taking the university to a higher level.

During the commissioning of the architectural success, he pointed that the structure will add value to the engineering profession in Nigeria, declared that the building is well cited in an appropriate environment.

He echoed that the structure will no doubt facilitate quality teaching, research and development.

Chairman and Pro-Chancellor of the University, Dr. Bode Ayorinde while welcoming and addressing the guests seated has listed the full capacity of the building which includes 9 classrooms, 20 offices, and 14 laboratories.

HRM Oba Ajibade Gbadegesin, the Olowo of Owo, who was at the occasion after he was conducted round the structure, he expressed his gratitude to the principal officials of the university, and also encouraged them to do more.

Dean of the college of engineering, Dr. Ojongbede said the structure is a blessing to the host community. He emphasized the need for all stakeholders to play their roles in order for the university to at the edge of leading new innovations.

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Samuel Aje while closing the ceremony thanked Prof. Odigure and the Olowo of Owo, all the guests, for gracing the commissioning.

1oth Convocation Lecture

The convocation lecture titled ‘The Reality of University Education Objectives: Post-Convocation Life’ – was also delivered by Prof. Odigure who urged graduating students not to play into foolishness, be wise, and also know how to use their skills to give back to society.

In his lecture, he remarked- “Today’s Convocation should be for your continuous learning and character development”

“There is a place for everyone and you have a place in history. A destiny to fulfill, but it all depends on you – the application of your belief in life depends on how you apply the life skills you have acquired from this university”

“Don’t be deterred by the course or your grades, they are not the entirety of your life journey. Reach for the fire within you. Never stop reinventing yourself through further rigorous studies”
