ENUGU – The south East governor’s forum has ended its meeting in Enugu State southeast Nigeria with a call on security agencies and vigilante groups in the region to enforce an open grazing ban in the zone.
The chairman of the governor forum David Umahi of Ebonyi state, while Addressing journalists declared the commitment to ensure enforcement on open grazing ban, after hours of closed doors meeting with other stakeholders in the zone, which lasted till late in the evening.
The southeast leaders also approved the adoption of Ebubeagu as the common joint security outfit with it regional headquarters in Enugu.
The forum directed the president general of Ohaneze Ndigbo Ambassador George Obiozor to constitute a southeast peace reconciliation committee to engage the people of the zone for peace and security of everyone.
The southeast regional leaders condemned the recent attacks in Imo state and urged the federal government to arrest the perpetrators. Those at the meeting include religious and political leaders as well as traditional rulers.
