Less than fourteen hours to the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Area Council elections, the result viewing portal of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) is down and not accessible.

A check on the portal by TECHNOCRAT MEDIA as part of assessing INEC’s preparations for the election shows that the website is down and cannot be accessed by any user.

The user interface of the INEC’s result view portal on Friday when visited by Technocrat Media.

It is not clear if INEC will restore the portal overnight on Friday before voting will commence on Saturday morning.

This could affect the transparency of the election as voters and stakeholders won’t be able to access live results from polling units.

The result viewing portal which is known as “The INEC Result Viewing (IReV)” was introduced by the Commission in August 2020.

The commission said the purpose of IRev is to enable Nigerians to view polling unit results in real-time as voting ends on election day.

The hope of tracking live results by the residents of FCT who are voting tomorrow might be dashed if INEC fails to restore the result viewing portal.
