The police in Abuja have arrested DCP Abba Kyari and taken into custody, two police sources revealed.

The police in Abuja have arrested DCP Abba Kyari and taken into custody, two police sources revealed.

According to The Gazette, Mr Kyari will be handed over to the NDLEA for prosecution over involvement in cocaine trafficking.

“He was arrested by the Force Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department because he failed to appear twice following invitation that the NDLEA was looking for him,” a police chief said.”

“He is with the AIG FCIID now and will be sent to the NDLEA shortly.”

The official said DCP Kyari’s pending case on Internet fraud charges will proceed separately.

“They want to formalise the ongoing probe by PSC before handing him over for prosecution and extradition,” an official added.

He was arrested hours after the National Drug Law and Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) declared him wanted by the on charges that he’s connected to drug cartels strong-arming Brazil-Ethiopia-Nigeria channel.
