Student’s loan bill and the bill that seeks to reserve ten per cent of available jobs in federal ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) for persons with disabilities (PWDs) have passed third reading at the House of Representatives.
A statement by the House after Wednesday’s plenary said both bills sponsored by the speaker and ten others have passed the third reading by the House.
The student loan bill when it becomes an Act will provide interest-free loans to indigent Nigerian students.
The long title of the first bill reads “A bill for an Act to repeal the Nigerian Education Bank Act and enact the Student’s Loan (Access to Higher Education) Act to provide easy to higher education for indigent Nigerians through interest-free loans from the Nigeria Education Loan Fund established in this Act with a view to providing education for all Nigerians and for related matters”.
The second bill is “A bill for an Act to provide that 10% of jobs available in all federal government ministries, departments, agencies and companies be distributed among the physically challenged persons in Nigeria where such persons apply and are qualified for the job and for related matters.
