The court in its ruling agreed with the verdict of the lower court (Tribunal) which on September 11th, 2023 held that Nnamani was convicted of forging a University of Port Harcourt degree certificate in 2015.

According to the court, Nnamani’s conviction in 2015 also barred him from seeking public office for 10 years.

According to the appeal court, the ruling of the tribunal in 2015 which was upheld by the Appeal Court in the same year still subsists. It, therefore, dismissed the Labour Party’s candidate appeal.
