Abuja, Nigeria
The federal government has launched an upgraded version of the Citizens’ Delivery Tracker App which will enable Nigerians to monitor government projects and hold ministers accountable.
The platform was unveiled in Abuja on Monday by the special adviser to the President on Policy and Coordination, Hadiza Bala-Usman.
Bala-Usman said the platform was central to holding every minister accountable for key deliverables of their portfolios.
The platform which was upgraded by the Central Delivery Coordination Unit (CDCU) in consultation with diverse stakeholders is accessed at app.cdcu.gov.ng, and promised it will be available on the Google Play Store and Apple Store within the next month for downloads by Nigerians.
According to her, the platform provides citizens with information on priority projects, policies, and programmes of the federal government.
Bala-Usman said it would provide a “strong feedback loop between citizens and government” on the eight priority areas of the President Bola Tinubu-led administration.
“You may recall President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s promise at the Cabinet Retreat for Ministers, Presidential Aides, Permanent Secretaries and Top Government Functionaries held in November 2023, that the Federal Government will strengthen the CDCU and ensure that citizens are an integral part of the monitoring and performance management process of the government,” she said.
“I am pleased to inform you that this promise has been delivered as the upgraded Citizens’ Delivery Tracker App, which will enable all citizens to view the deliverables and key performance indicators for all ministries and give their own assessment on the performance of the each of the indicators, goes live today.
“In arriving at the deliverables and key performance indicators, the CDCU, supported by development partners and consultants, held numerous bilateral meetings with all the Ministers, Permanent Secretaries, and their respective technical teams over a period of six weeks. The bilateral sessions looked at the mandate of the respective ministries in line with the Presidential Priority Areas and arrived at the final deliverable and KPIs.”
“Regardless of how much we have prepared for the job ahead, we still need and covet Nigerians’ participation in the delivery assessment on the Presidential priority areas. This collaboration is important because, ultimately, these policies, projects and programmes are aimed at improving the well-being of the people; and, more importantly, because President Tinubu is committed to running an inclusive government by ensuring that Nigerians participate in the governance of their country.”
