RAHMON KAMORUDEEN ADEWALE, 35, a graduate of the Federal University of Technology, Akure, who as a passionate and tireless champion and promoter of science, technology and mathematics engaging in simplifying difficult science theories and practical to teach and inspire young people on radio in Nigeria.
Over the years since 2014, as the curator and presenter of ‘AWARI OTUN’ meaning NEW DISCOVERIES on radio, he is changing the attitudes and perceptions of his audience, mostly young people and driving for better understanding and appreciation of science by many including the elderly folks. Awari Otun, a radio program that talks about history, science and technology in pure Yoruba language on Adaba 88.9 FM, Akure, Ondo State, Nigeria has tremendously impacted the growth of science education among children and youth in Western Nigeria.
In 2014, after his radio programme clocked six months with the engagement of over thirty thousand audience on a weekly basis spreading over six States in the Western part of Nigeria, based on popular demand by his radio audience, he commenced the production of his weekly radio audio contents in the CD/DVD packs in episodes with over 10, 000 copies distributed so far. The program on Facebook has organically grown to about 12, 000 followers.
Adewale, a trained Electrical and Electronic Engineer who hails from Ede, a city in Osun State, joined the services of Adaba 88.9 FM, Akure in the year 2009 as an industrial training student after his national diploma from the Federal Polytechnic Ado-Ekiti. He was retained after his excellent performance throughout his one-year industrial attachment training.
He thereafter proceeded to the Federal University of Technology, Akure, where he bagged a Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. He has been honoured several times for his outstanding performance in technical, engineering and technology solutions by the management of the station.
Currently, his pursuing a master’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering with a passion for using technology as a tool for the empowerment of the huge youth population in Africa and solving emerging problems to impact society better than he met it.
