Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbanjo, the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, members of the Central Working Committee of the party, and other prominent members of the party will attend the official campaign flag-off for the reelection of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu in the forthcoming gubernatorial election.
According to a statement issued by the Spokesperson of Akeredolu/Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organization, Mr. Olabode Olatunde, he disclosed this, saying that the flag-off will hold today in the Ondo State capital, Akure.
Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari yesterday in Abuja has shown his support for the reelection of Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu when visited by the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Caretaker Committee and the Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni, along with some party leaders who presented Governor Akeredolu as the party’s candidate for the forthcoming election.
While speaking to newsmen after the endorsement, Governor Buni said it was necessary to secure the president’s blessing ahead of the APC campaign flag-off in Akure today.
“We are here today to present our candidate to Mr. President, being the leader of the party for his blessing. That has always been the practice. We cannot kick-start our campaign without his endorsement and that is what we have just done,” he said.
He also said President Buhari endorsed Governor Akeredolu because he was aware of his achievement in Ondo State in the last three and a half years, claiming that the people could trust him with their mandate for a second four years as governor.
The Party’s State Chairman, Mr. Ade Adetimehin while speaking to newsmen yesterday, said all is set and preparations have been made to receive the national leaders of the party.
According to him, the people of the state and party supporters across the state would come out in large numbers to welcome the party’s national leaders.
Technocrat Media gathered that members of the party have been mobilizing party supporters to attend the occasion.
