PLATEAU – The Northern Governors Forum (NGF) has said that open grazing is no longer allowed and should be reviewed in the constitution based on the growing population of the country.
A four-man committee, headed by the Governor of Plateau State, Mr. Simon Lalong, has expressed concerns over growing insecurity in the country and called on political leaders to segregate between criminality and social groups in their jurisdiction with a view to identifying criminal elements and treating them as such.
QUICK READ gathered that “The forum noted with concern the tension generated by the eviction order issued to herdsmen in some parts of the country and observed that this is heating the already fragile security atmosphere with threats of reprisals, which the northern governors are working assiduously to contain,”
It also noted the urgent need for the larger Nigerian Governors Forum (NGF) to meet and discuss the issue holistically with a view to resolving all areas of conflicts arising from these threats, for the sake of national unity.
NGF also urged Nigerians to continue to live in peace with all , irrespective of their origins and backgrounds.
