ABUJA – The governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele has said that the printing of money was the job of the apex bank.
He disclosed this through the official Twitter handle of the bank. The governor who might be reacting to the statement made by the governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, who had said in viral video that the federal government printed additional N60b last month to support the money that was shared for allocation.
The concept of printing money is about lending money and that is our job… It will be irresponsible for the CBN or any Central Bank or Fed to stand idle and refuse to support its government at a time like this. Sugar and Wheat to go into our FX restriction list. We must work together to produce these items in Nigeria rather than import them”
