AKURE – Adebayo Omolafe, a member of the house o representatives from Ondo state died over the night at the federal medical centre, Owo, the northern senatorial district of the State.
The lawmaker who was said to have slumped, was taken from Akure, the state capital to the federal medical centre in Owo where he died at the early hours on Monday.
The deceased was said to have visited his farm located at Irese area of the state capital on Sunday morning.
After returning home, the lawmaker said to have complained of severe
headache. According to OJUASHA, a source close to him said when the situation
could not be managed at home, he was rushed to a health facility in Akure where
he was referred to the federal medical centre in Owo.
The source said “Oga was unconscious and rushed to FMC in Owo where
have gave up the ghost”.
The source revealed how another lawmaker came around to assist Mr. Adedayo Omolafe (the deceased) but however did not mention the lawmaker’s name.
On arriving FMC, it was realised that his blood pressure had risen beyond 300. Which means he must have died of high blood pressure.
The daughter of the deceased, Modupe Adedayo said his father was unconscious after he complained of headache and was rushed to FMC where he had his last breath.
Tope Fakinlede, the senior legislative aide to the lawmaker disclosed that efforts to revive his boss within 30 minutes of headache proved abortive until has was pronounced dead early on Monday morning.
A close ally to the lawmaker, Femi Salako in a Facebook post said “In the whole of Akure, we could not get somewhere near to treat him and give him immediate medical attention, for a man that suddenly slumped, they have to travel down to Owo for over 40 minutes”.
“I am sure he was attended to because of his personality, else he would have even stayed more hours waiting for Doctors to attend to him there. We are failing our people when we fail to do the right thing for them, we also fail God who has positioned us in our respective offices.”
“We recently saw the pictures of President Muhammadu Buhari and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in London a few days ago where they went for medical treatment and we all know the reaction that trailed this,”
“What is the fate of the common man if we fail to provide our communities with the much-needed Infrastructural facilities in our health sector?”, he asked.
A condolence register has been opened at his residence at the state capital as several politicians, groups and constituents as well as the state government have been expressing their shocks and pouring encomiums on the demised lawmaker for his active services to his people in his lifetime.

Rotimi Akeredolu, Ondo state governor says he received the news of the death of the member of the house of representatives representing Akure North/South federal constituency, Adedayo Omolafe, popularly known as ‘Expensive’ with a heavy heart and rude shock.
Describing the news as devasting, he said, the reality is too difficult to accept considering that no news of illness was heard about the late lawmaker before his sudden death.
Mr. Akeredolu said “Adedayo as one of the members of the green chamber from the Sunshine State was an urbane character and full of candour.
“Like every mortal man, Expensive is gone in fulfillment of the mankind’s inescapable debt. It is painful that such a bright star is gone too soon. For our dear State, this is a big blow dealt by the ugly sting of death. It is a devasting tragedy”, the governor stated.
The governor added that the late Adedayo was committed to the service of his people, having served as an elected Executive Chairman of Akure South local government in 2004 and as well as achieving his desire to represent his people at the national assembly.
“He was renowned for his generosity, touching lives and making people smile with his act of giving. Adedayo has a track record of service to his people. He was a grassroot politician. His death is a great loss to Akure Kingdom and the State in general”.
Mr. Akeredolu commiserates with the national assembly, the people of Akure and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the State.
