#ENDSARS memorial: CSOs adopt car procession to avoid police harrasment in Lagos

Civil Society Organizations in Lagos has adopted car procession rally for the #ENDSARS memorial protest in honor of those who died protesting at the Lekki toll gate in October 2020.

In a new poster released by one of the planners, Enough is Enough Nigeria led by Yemi Adamolekun.

The statement reads “We’re rolling up in cars on Wednesday to go through the tollgate. A procession of cars is the safest option to minimize police harassment. Come if you can. We must never forget.”

Adamolekun in a tweet said “We will never forget. Nigerian citizens waved flags and sang till they were shot at and killed. We must never forget. We’ll roll up in 🚘 tomorrow and drive through the toll gate. Come if you can. Text if you don’t have a 🚗.”

Folarin Falana has said he will be part of the procession.

“We must never forget. We’re rolling up in cars tomorrow to drive through the tollgate. We know their way, so a procession of cars is the safest option to minimize police harrassment. We have rides for people that need.”, Falana said.

The poster described how protesters should participate in the car procession rally.

“Drive through the toll gate 8-10am”

“Blast our horns in unison as we drive through”

“Wave our flags”

The directive also caution participants to come out in groups and stay in the car for safety.
