27 graduands to bag Achievers University first-class degrees as Atiku delivers 11th convocation on Friday: VC

The management of Achievers University, Owo says the institution is set to release another set of morally sound, properly educated and entrepreneurial oriented individuals into the world’s labour market.

Achievers is known for thoroughly training its students to become leaders in their communities will confer first degrees on 434 new graduands on Friday at its 11th convocation, a day the institution will be marking her 14th anniversary.

This was disclosed by the vice-chancellor, Prof S. O Aje at a press conference on Monday at the university campus.

He said 27 students of the school will be graduating with first-class as Miss Adeoye Oluwatosin Oreofejesu of Microbiology emerged as the overall best graduating student.

Atiku to deliver convocation lecture

Prof S.O Aje also said former vice president, Atiku Abubakar will deliver the convocation lecture on Friday.

Abubakar Atiku, who was the 2019 presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would be speaking on “Education, University and Autonomy” on Friday 10th of December 2021.

Speaking on accreditation of the university, Prof Aje said, “94% of programmes of this university have full accreditation, eight programmes are due for accreditation, the exercise will commence in the next few days” he disclosed.

“In view of the outcome of this accreditation exercise which translates to having full accreditation from both the NUC and COREN, we are hereby inviting all Nigerians and lovers of engineering to patronize the College and take advantage of the state of the art facilities that are available in the College of Engineering Technology.”, the VC added.

Service to host community

Prof Aje said the university has succeeded over the years in building a very strong relationship with her immediate neighbours and the Owo community in general.

He said in the 2020/2021 academic session, “we embarked on the journey of offering scholarship/free tuition to all students in 10 of our highly respected programmes, namely; Accounting. Business Administration, Economics, Political Science, Public Administration, Sociology, Plant Science and Biotech Industrial Chemistry and Geology.”

“Indeed, 280 students were given admission and are enjoying the scholarship/tuition-free arrangement.”, the VC stated.

“The university governing council has decided to add two more programmes to the list of scholarships/tuition-free programmes. The additional programmes are BSc Human Physiology and BSc Human Anatomy.”

“Any student that chooses to read any of the tuition-free programmes will enjoy a scholarship for three consecutive years.”

The vice-chancellor also added that distinguished and worthy Nigerians who through dints of hard work and exemplary leadership excel as role models in business, governance and nation-building, legal and judicial matters, and public administration would be honoured.

According to him, they include Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, former vice president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria; Justice Badejoko Olateju Adeniji, J.P. KJW, Emeritus Judge, Oyo State, and Alhaji Abdulraheem Olutokunbo Disu Sule, Rtd permanent secretary, Lagos State Civil Service and Baba Adini of Owo and Ose local government areas.”
