Nigeria: 422 new COVID-19 cases, 1 death recorded in 14 states

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) says Nigeria on Tuesday recorded one death from coronavirus infections as well as 422 fresh cases.

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) says Nigeria on Tuesday recorded one death from coronavirus infections as well as 422 fresh cases.

The fresh cases were reported across 14 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The NCDC in its latest statistics on Wednesday shows that the new confirmed cases raised Nigeria’s total cases to 249,154.

It also revealed that the death toll now stands at 3,086.

The breakdown of the data shows Rivers state to lead the infection log with 178 cases, followed by Kwara with 87 cases.

Abuja, the federal capital territory recorded 57 cases; Borno, 20; Kaduna, 17; Plateau,14; while Katsina reported 12 cases.

The NCDC said Delta, Edo and Jigawa reported six cases each as well as Anambra, Ekiti, and Oyo also with five cases each.

The data shows that Ogun State reported had three cases, Nasarawa with a single case.

The agency said that 3,933,209 people have been tested for the virus.

As of Jam. 9, 16,694,633 vaccine doses have been administered to Nigerians according to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
