Austin Eguavoen, Super Eagles head coach has stepped down over the failure to qualify the team for the 2022 World Cup.
Mr Eguavoen, according to Brilla FM has sent an official resignation letter to the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Sahara Reporters said in a report.
The sports radio said he will now return to his role as Technical Director of all national teams.
However, NFF is yet to make an official statement on the development.
The NFF had sealed a two-year contract with Mr Eguavoen two days before the first leg of the World Cup play-off against Ghana.
After the last qualifier match against the Black Stars of Ghana on Tuesday, many Nigerians are now calling for a total overhaul of the football federation.
