Presidential hopeful Rochas Okorocha has been arrested by the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on the allegation of stealing N2.9bn.
Operatives of the EFCC had besieged Mr Okorocha’s house in Abuja on Tuesday to arrest him.
The officials of EFCC insist that no one would be allowed to leave the house until Senator Okorocha honours a long-standing invitation by the anti-graft commission, who they said has been evading probe.
However, Mr Okorocha declined, insisting that he will not submit himself to the anti-graft agency without a warrant.
The former governor was said to have allegedly conspired with five companies, others including a member of the ruling APC to steal public funds amounting to N2.9 billion.
The defendants include Mr Okorocha, Anyim Nyerere Chinenye, Naphtali International Limited, Perfect Finish Multi Projects Limited, Consolid Projects Consulting Limited, Pramif International Limited, and Legend World Concepts Limited.
He was arrested after hours the operatives of EFCC has besieged his residence in Maitama.
Mr Okorocha has earlier appealed to the operatives of the anti-graft commission to allow him to attend the screening of presidential aspirants by his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC).
