Kabiru Masari, a board member of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) has been submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commisssion (INEC) as the running mate of Bola Tinubu, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2023 general elections.
Mr Masari is from Katsina State, President Buhari’s home state.
Mandated by the electoral act 2022, political parties are required to submit nominations to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the 2023 elections latest by Friday (June 17, 2022).
Kabir Faskari, a chieftain of the APC, said the decision was made by the candidate of the party after consultation with party leaders, including the president.
He said while featuring on ‘Politics Today’, a Channels TV political and current affairs programme.
Mr Masari had served as the APC national welfare secretary during the tenure of Adams Oshiomhole as national chairman of the party between 2018 to 2020.
