Mukaila Bello, a traditional head of Iku quarters, the Oniku of Iku quarters in Ikare-Akoko, Ondo State, has been abducted by bandits.
The traditional head was kidnapped while returning to his local community from Akure, the state capital on Thursday evening.
Four other persons traveling with the King were also abducted.
People Gazette reports that a local hunter who is one of the vigilantes in the area spoke with the medium, and confirmed the development on Friday morning.
According to him, the bandits ambushed the community ruler and the other victims along Ago Panu on the Owo-Ikare road in Owo local government area.
“The driver of the vehicle was stabbed by the gunmen, but we were able to rescue him alone and rushed him to the hospital,” the hunter said.
“He is there receiving treatment now with wounds all over his body. Sadly, these people (bandits) are still lurking around our forest in Ondo,” he said.
The kidnappers are yet to contact their victims’ families.
Funmilayo Odunlami, Ondo’s police spokesperson didn’t immediately respond to confirm the attack when contacted by The Gazette.
Within two months, the bandits had attacked governor Akeredolu’s Owo local government areas three times.
The attack on the Catholic church left many worshippers dead while many others suffered various degrees of injuries.
Another was the shooting at a construction company that claimed two lives and some others injured.
