Siminalayi Fubara, Governor of Rivers State has appointed the State assembly’s former factional speaker, Edison Ehie, as his chief of staff (CoS).
The new CoS was the majority leader of the assembly impeached in the early stage of the crisis to oust the governor but later became a factional speaker of the assembly.
During the heat of the political crisis in the State, Ehie resigned from the assembly after the meeting between President Bola Tinubu and Rivers State’s stakeholders.
The faction led by Martins Amaehwule of the assembly who are loyal to Nyesom Wike, minister of Federal Capital Territory, instituted moves to impeach the governor but did not succeed.
Also, in January, Chidi Amadi resigned from his position as the chief of staff to the governor.
In a statement issued on Monday, Dr Tammy Danagogo, secretary to the Rivers State government, said that the governor had approved the appointment of Edison Ehie as chief of staff government house.
The statement added that Ehie and two other persons, Dr Darlington Orji and Abel Eke, appointed special advisers to the governor, would be sworn in later on Monday.
