Abuja, Nigeria
Ayodele Olawande, minister of state for youth, says the Ministry of Youth Development has launched a helpdesk for Nigerian youth to escalate and resolve issues between young people and the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
Olawande disclosed this through his official X-handle on Friday.
“As promised, my office, in collaboration with the Nigerian Police has successfully initiated the Nigerian Youth helpdesk as a measure to receive, process, and escalate concerns from Nigerian Youths, and also improve the relationship between them and the Police,” he wrote on X.
“My office will work with stakeholders in all 36 states, including the FCT, to ensure the help desk is effective and efficient across the country.
“All youth, especially those who will be utilizing the platform, are, however, advised to engage responsibly and to report only concerns that are credible and worthy of attention.
He reiterated the commitment of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the actualization of the action plan for Nigerian youth, saying the initiative is another testament to the resolve of the President to protect the integrity and the general well-being of young people across the country.
This followed the launch of the “Young and Secure” initiative on Thursday in Abuja.
According to the minister, the initiative was aimed at enhancing civic commitment through a pact that addresses the security needs of young people, fostering youth-focused engagement to promote dialogue and cooperation with law enforcement agencies, and implementing a technology-powered platform for transparency, accountability, and swift resolution of security-related issues.
During the launch, he said “Nigerian Youth Helpdesk”, a platform that serves as a centralized hub to manage and resolve concerns from Nigerian youths regarding the Police and other law enforcement agencies, and creating a database for strategic decision-making and policy direction to foster an enabling environment for our youths to feel safe and secured.
“This helpdesk will be accessible nationwide through collaboration with stakeholders in all 36 states and the FCT to ensure smooth escalation and resolution of police-related concerns from Nigerian Youths,” he said.
