Lafia, Nigeria
Nasarawa State Governor Abdullahi Sule has dissolved the state’s Executive Council, a move that impacts all seventeen commissioners as well as the Secretary to the State Government (SSG).
NAN reports that the decision was announced at a special emergency executive meeting held on Friday at the Government House in Lafia.
The meeting took place shortly after the departure of Vice President Kashim Shetima, who was in the state for a one-day working visit to inaugurate several projects.
Mohammed Iliyasu-Idde, permanent secretary of cabinet affairs and special services, in a statement, said the governor thanked the outgoing members of his cabinet for their contributions towards the growth of Nasarawa state and wished them well in their future endeavours.
“All the outgoing council members are to hand over the affairs of their ministries and government property in their possession to the permanent secretaries in their respective ministries while the SSG is to hand over to the permanent secretary cabinet affairs and special services,” the statement read in part.
In July 2023, Governor Sule nominated 17 commissioners who are now outgoing council members, for screening and confirmation by the Nasarawa State House of Assembly.
