Kano state executive council has approved N1.4bn for the payment of examination fees for qualified indigent students.
The SEC approved the release of the sum for the sponsorship of 60, 871 qualified indigent secondary school students for the National Examination Council (NECO), National Business and Technical Examination Board (NABTEB), the National Board for Arabic and Islamic Studies (NBAIS) and other senior secondary school examinations (SSCE).
Muhammad Garba, the commissioner for information and internal affairs, disclosed this while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the SEC meeting held at the council chambers of the Government House, Kano.
According to Garba, the category of benefitting students includes those who obtained six credits and above, including English and Mathematics in Regular Secondary Schools in Qualifying Examinations and Senior Islamic and Tahfeez Secondary School students.
