Agunloye was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over allegations of fraud while in office under the administration of Olusegun Obasanjo.

He was brought before Justice Donatus Okorowo of the Federal High Court in Abuja on Wednesday—where he pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him by the EFCC.

On December 21, 2023, the EFCC granted an administrative bail to Agunloye, who was arrested and detained over an alleged fraud of N6bn in the Mambilla Power Project.
