Abuja, Nigeria
The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has warned Nigerians against the use of the viral new slogan “No gree for anybody.”
ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, NPF spokesperson, gave the warning during a press conference at the police headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday.
“The new slogan for 2024 for our young ones is; ‘No dey gree for anybody ’, ” he said.
“According to our intelligence, the slogan is coming from a revolutionary sector that might generate difficulties across the country.
“‘No dey gree for anybody’ is considered as just a typical talk, but in the security world, we see it as a highly dangerous term that can spark a crisis.”
The new slang which started on social media at the beginning of the new year, has become viral and is being used as content by Nigerians on the web.
‘No gree for anybody’ is just popular not only amongst youth but also among the political elites.
Babajide Sanwo-Olu, governor of Lagos State on January 10 while charging the Super Eagles to remain steadfast ahead of the 34th African Cup of Nation (AFCON) at a send-forth dinner in Lagos, said “no gree for anybody”.
