NASS upper arm passes bill to revert old national anthem

The upper arm of the national assembly, the Senate, has passed the National Anthem Bill 2024.

Abuja, Nigeria

The upper arm of the national assembly, the Senate, has passed the National Anthem Bill 2024.

The passing of the bill will revert the country to its old national anthem, “Nigeria, we hail thee” which was used between 1960 and 1978.

The Senate speedily put the bill through the legislative processes. It passed the first and second readings on Thursday, and the third reading on Tuesday (Today).

It now awaits the assent of President Bola Tinubu to become law.
