The newly elected chairman of Irele Local Government, Mr. Olusegun Ajimotokin has assured the people of Irele Local Government an administration that will champion the cause of the people.
This was made known to Technocrat Media during the chairman’s inaugural speech in Irele Local Government.
Mr. Ajimotokin said, his administration will bring to bear a practical leadership that will explore the sustainable development thereby effecting changes and bring the dividends of democracy to the people.
He said: “Our administration shall make the people have access to our government to contribute to our programs, policies and new laws to effectively galvanize our developmental agenda in agriculture, health, infrastructures, education, commerce and industry, youth, technology and innovations, and security to trigger human capital, economic growth, and development to raise the living standard of the people”.
Mr. Ajimotokin applauded the Ondo State Governor, Mr. Oluwarotimi Akeredolu for conducting the local government election during his administration. Adding that this would enhance development at the grassroots.
“I have no doubt that this fit would translate to rapid grassroots development with a focus on human capital, youth and women empowerment, infrastructures rejuvenation, accessible and affordable health system for the people, opening up of rural roads and empowering the local government to deliver more social services at the grassroots. These we will do as an administration and in partnership with the Ondo State Government, international organizations, and the private sector.
“We have great tasks ahead of us to achieve our goals in making lives better for our people, our administration shall from time to time embark on making bye-laws in order to strengthen the processes of decision making and also giving the citizens the opportunity to make their voices heard in the administration of Irele local government.
“However, our government shall leave no stone unturned to ensure accountability and transparency in the use of our collective resources – our allocation from the federal government and internally generated revenue (IGR) shall be put to the best use to benefit the greatest number of our people.
“On security and environmental development and sustainability, our government shall harness the primary role of the traditional council to contribute to peacebuilding, and environmental safety across their communities. We are not going to rely only on the police and other security agencies – we will improve on our support for the security agencies and we will ensure that we make security the business of everyone to alert, report and cooperate with law enforcement agents to get rid of security threats and return peace to every family and individuals.
“On workforce efficiency, our local government workers are advised to sit tight, take ownership, and improve on our social services to the people through proper implementation of government policies at the grassroots. We are going to restructure, train, retrain, and mobilize the local government workforce for improved results.
“On primary education and health, we shall make the best use of the resources available at our disposal to strengthen and reposition these sectors for improved service delivery”. He said.
The new local government chairman further implored the people of Irele to be supportive in order to ensure a successful administration.
