The atmosphere in Irele was filled with happiness and joy as the people of Irele local government celebrate Dr. Remi Peter Olatubora, who was conferred as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria.
Dr Olatubora is the first person to attain the rank from the area.
In September 2020, the Legal Practitioners’ Privileges Committee (LPPC) shortlisted a total of 137 candidates for the conferment of the much-coveted SAN rank. During its 143rd Meeting held November of the same year, Dr. Remi Peter Olatubora (esq.) and 71 others were elevated to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria cadre.
Celebrating their sons and daughters who are exceptional in their crafts is the culture of the Irele Local Government people; it wasn’t different for Dr. Remi Peter Olatubora.
Ondo State Governor, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu SAN, represented by his deputy, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa appreciated the celebrant for all his selfless efforts, particularly during the post-election cases at the High Court and Appeal court.
During his opening remarks, the chairman of the occasion, Chief Olusola Oke, SAN appreciates the doggedness of Olatubora who has over the years won a series of high-profile cases. Chief Oke, who was the first to be conferred a SAN in Ondo South Senatorial district implore the youths of the local government to not only face politics but to also have a job they can depend on.
The chairman of Irele local government, Mr Olusegun Ajimotokin said Dr Olatubora is one of the smartest indigenes of the area and deserves to be celebrated for his numerous achievements, most importantly his elevation as a senior advocate of Nigeria.
Dr. Remi Peter Olatubora SAN while giving his vote of thanks appreciated the Ondo state governor for his support and testimonials to ensure he was conferred the cadre and for the governor’s trust in him to handle some cases.
He also appreciated Chief Olusola Oke for always referring him to high-profile cases.
While thanking the organisers, the chairman of Irele local government council, Mr Olusegun Ajimotokin; Prof Francis Igbasan; Daisi Omokungbe and a senior citizen from Ode-Irele, Dr J. K Naiyeju, a former accountant general of the federation, Dr Olatubora said the recognition is one of the greatest he has received in his life.
“That my people called me for recognition, this is one of the greatest I have ever received in my life.”
“Mr chairman of the local government and Dr Naiyeju, I am grateful for this recognition.”, he said.
Dr Olatubora pledged his continued commitment to the development of the area and the people, especially the young ones.
The learned silk also used the occasion to inaugurate the trustees and members of Remi Olatubora Foundation, a nonprofit under his leadership to give out yearly scholarships to students from the area who are studying engineering, medicine, law, and architecture and oversee their growth in the pursuit of their higher education.
The event also witnessed the presentation of gifts to the celebrant and the governor of Ondo State by the local government council.
