Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu’s camp has had yet another boost as the former Secretary to the Ondo State Government (SSG) Hon. Ifedayo Abegunde who is popularly known as Abena, reconciled and returned to Governor Akeredolu’s camp.
Technocrat media had gathered that some political and community leaders from Owo and Akure had facilitated the reconciliation between the duo. The governor had allegedly promised to compensate Mr. Abegunde in return if he won the election in October.
The former SSG was said to have visited the governor in the Government House on Sunday evening, and took pictures with some members of Governor Akeredolu camp; the former commissioner for special duties, Femi Adekanmbi, and the governor’s son, Babajide, showing the four-plus four fingers after the meeting.
It would be recalled that Mr. Abegunde resigned his appointment as the SSG in June and openly declared that he was not in support of the governor’s second term bid and threw his support for one of the governorship aspirants, Segun Abraham who later withdrew from the gubernatorial race to support Governor Akeredolu.
The former SSG later switched support for another governorship aspirant, Mr. Olayide Adelami after Abraham withdrew from the primary election.
He also alleged that Governor Akeredolu didn’t win the 2016 governorship election but was rigged for Akeredolu. An allegation that provoked the governor to take legal actions, but nothing was heard of the suite till now.
Abegunde was immediately replaced with Tayo Oluwatuyi after his resignation as the Secretary to the Ondo State Government.
He will be joining other All Progressives Congress’s party faithful to ensure the victory of Governor Akeredolu’s in the forthcoming election.
