Ondo State Former Governor and National Leader of the Zenith Labour Party, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko has said he decided to support Deputy Governor Agboola Ajayi as the Zenith Labour Party’s governorship candidate because he is the most qualified candidate to revive Ondo State from Governor Akeredolu’s failed administration.
The former governor made this known during the party’s campaign flag-off in Ore, Odigbo Local Government Area on Saturday.
Dr. Mimiko assured the people of the state of Mr. Ajayi’s intention restore free healthcare services, free education and urban development and support civil servants with housing and car loans if elected as governor in the forthcoming election.
He urged the people of Ondo State not to exhibit any form of fear or intimidation that may be coming from the parties that want to be in government by force, thereby threatening to unleash violence during the poll. He adding that “we own this state together.”
He further advised them that will be approached by the opposition parties that want to buy their votes. He said they should collect the “stolen money” and go-ahead to vote for ZLP that would restabilize the state.
Also speaking at the event, the deputy governor, Mr. Ajayi said he has always been a grassroots politician, way back before becoming a deputy governor which made him know more about the people’s needs. He, however, promised to fulfil all his promises if he elected.
He said, “They said I am a neophyte in politics; they don’t know what they are saying. Though they are SANs, I am the most experienced to be the governor of this state; I am more qualified than all of them.”
Mr. Ajayi added that he vowed to reduce the tuition fees of Adekunle Ajasin Ajayi Akungba Akoko to N50,000 and to bring back electricity to the communities in the Ondo South Senatorial District.
