OKITIPUPA – Ahead of the forthcoming governorship election in Ondo State, the Abodi of Ikaleland, Oba George Babatunde Faduyile has endorsed the Vote Not Fight Campaign which seeks to promote peaceful participation of young people in the October 10 2020 gubernatorial election.
The first-class traditional ruler endorsed the campaign during an advocacy visit to his palace at Ikoya in Okitipupa Local Government Area by the Vote Not Fight Campaign team.
In his words, I, Oba Babatunde Faduyile, the Abodi of Ikaleland uses this medium to appeal to the youths and the people of Ikale to shun violence and embrace peace before, during, and after the forthcoming governorship election so that whoever emerges would be able to consolidate on development projects across our communities in Ikale and beyond.
Earlier, the coordinator of the campaign who doubles as the Executive Director of The Pacesetters, Mr. Jonathan Obatola told the traditional ruler that the group was in his palace to secure his endorsement for the Vote Not Fight campaign. He further explained that as a key influencer and a revered stool in Ondo State, Kabiyesi should call on his subjects to remain peaceful throughout the electoral circle.
Thereafter, the Vote Not Fight Campaign moved to Ode-Irele where a peace walk was held to sensitize young people on the need for peaceful, inclusive, free, and fair election come October 2020.
The Executive Chairman of Irele Local Government Area, Barr. Olusegun Ajimotokin endorsed the campaign and assured the group that his people are in line with the values of the campaign and that the local government would put in place all necessary mechanisms to ensure peaceful conduct before, during, and after the governorship poll.
