Stay At Home, NULGE Tells Workers

By Damilola Adeyemo

EKITI – The Nigeria Union Of Local Government Employees( NULGE) has given an order that all workers should stay at home as thugs invade Ekiti LG Secretariat.

According to a worker who pleaded anonymity said “The thugs arrived at the secretariat at about 10 am after some councilors arrived at the secretariat to commence the impeachment process on the Council Chairperson, Omotunde Fajuyi, over alleged high-handedness, incompetence, and gross misconduct.

“This gives the impression that they were sponsored by the local government chairman, especially going by the standoff between the council executive led by Fajuyi and the Legislative arm. The invasion led to a free-for-all as some of the staff and councillors, who sustained varying degrees of injuries, repelled the attack.”

But Fajuyi denied sponsoring the thugs, saying, “I was in my office sitting quietly and working when I noticed that some members of staff were running in different directions. I asked why, but nothing was seen. Though some of my staff said some hoodlums had invaded the council, I couldn’t see anything that could substantiate that claim.
