AKURE – TECHNOCRAT MEDIA had an exclusive interview with Rev. Funke Felix-Adejumo, 58, a woman of deep insight into the things and Word of God. She has been at the forefront of evangelism, mentoring women to raise Godly families and build successful careers in the corporate world in the last thirty years. Rev. Adejumo is the wife of the general overseer of the Agape Christian Ministries worldwide, which has its headquarters in Akure, the Ondo State capital.

Rev. Adejumo has travelled around many countries of the world. In this exclusive interview, she emphasized the need for the female gender to rest and have personal time for themselves, and for younger generations to live their lives on purpose. The interview took place at her newly world-class built and commissioned resort centre – Funke Felix Adejumo Resort Center in Akure.

Question: Can we meet you, ma?

Answer: Thank you, I’m Funke Felix – Adejumo, a 58-year-old child of God.

Question: What brought about your passion for women?

Answer: Yes, it’s God’s calling. He resourced me for it when he created me, He put it there. That’s the reason why I’m living, that’s my oxygen and when I was born. Many people rather than rejoicing with my parent, were shedding tears; a girl child? what would she ever become? because my father had two girls that already died.

When it was time to go to school, they said no, don’t send her to school – she would get pregnant. Even, if she doesn’t get pregnant; she’s going to change her name when she gets married. It’s a waste of time. So you see my background!

But my father kept telling me, you are better than seven sons and today, I’m grateful to God.

Question: Recently, we heard you launched a resort centre in Akure, what is it all about?

Answer: I noticed that women have little rest because when we were created in the garden of Eden it was because we were needed, we are created to meet needs. When the man was created, it was because he was wanted, but we were needed as women. We are so used to meeting needs that we always forget ourselves, A lot of women just die without enjoying the fruit of their labor – Ecc. 3: 13

When God laid it on my heart, because I’m very passionate about the girl child and female gender, I decided to put it together by God’s grace so that women can come around for different kinds of recreation. We are committed to the women’s spirit, soul, and body. It’s a place for rejuvenation.

Question: How secure is the Resort Center for local and foreign visitors?

Answer: We are so security conscious, everywhere is with barbed wire, with security guards and also cameras, nobody can mess up here. I won’t release our other security details. When you visit some hotels, they put – cars are parked at the owners’ risk. In our case, the cars of our visitors and guests are parked at our risk.

Question: What other benefits do users and visitors stand to gain?

Answer: Apart from body rejuvenation, relaxation and renewal, You also come to the resort centre to connect. People, even churches come here for their retreats.

Question: It took how many years to build the Resort Center?

Answer: It took 14 years to put what you see here together. In January this year, I said to myself, enough is enough! So February 21st we decided to take off. The longest journey always starts with a step. I forgot to mention, we also do Airport pick-up with complete security. We have a sister agency that’s involved in handling air tickets and arrangements. We have people who have come from America to this place.

Question: A little digression, a few days ago, you received an award for impact on young people’s lives from Foursquare Gospel Church, why is your interest in young people, especially the female gender?

Answer: When you win a child, you have saved a generation, when you win an adult, you will be busy with repairs because there is a lot that has been put in there. As adults, you start to unlearn, learn and relearn. When you start with a young person, you expose them early to your mistakes so that can avoid such. You also expose them early to the successes that God has given you the privilege of. Success leaves clues, failures also leave clues, and you become vulnerable and teach them to be a better version of you. This is how to do it and how not to do it. We are a better version of the previous generation and the coming generation must be better than us.

We stopped emphasizing generational curses. We started emphasizing generational blessing because energy follows focus. I’m a certified coach. I use science to explain the Bible. It’s so real. So when you minister to young people; when you mentor them, you are pulling away some things and planting early enough so they can be a better version.

That’s why I’m passionate about them.

Advice for young people

Question: As a mother who has seen life, advise young people, especially young women out there!

Love God, Love him passionately and serve him; believe in yourself, love yourself, like yourself, be humble, and don’t allow society to dismantle your destiny. Don’t allow religion to thwart God’s plan for your life. Don’t major in the minor. We must never allow the things that are least important to be at the mercy of the things that are most important and crucial in life. Strive to marry your friend. Don’t get married because you just want to be married.

Who’s a friend? Someone that knows where you stink and yet he’s faithful.

Don’t marry because my parent said, my friend said, do you want to live the rest of your life with this person? Are you sure you want to marry this person? Are you sure you want to share your life with this person? Once you are married; you have invited somebody to invade your privacy for life. Marriage is not a weekend affair, after the wedding comes marriage, keep improving, be grateful, and be humble but don’t hand over the driver’s seat of your life to anybody.

As parents, we made tend to make the mistakes our parents made, we live our lives and try to live our children’s life. Parents should understand that no child is sent to them; children are only sent through them by God. Stop oppressing your children.

The wife of the general overseer admonished younger generations to live their lives. Don’t dress anyhow – that it is popular doesn’t mean it is right. The opinion is the cheapest commodity on earth.
