ANAMBRA – Anambra State government has imposed curfew in some communities of the state.
This is coming few hours after unknown gunmen attacked the Igbariam community in Oyi local government area in the late hours of Monday.
Confirming the incident, the police public relation officer, Tochukwu Ikenga says the assailants invaded the community in their numbers armed with machetes and other dangerous weapons killing about nine people.
But the chairman of the Miyetti Allah cattle breeders association of Nigeria southeast zone, Gidado Sadiq says nineteen people including women and children were slaughtered and twenty-three cows killed by unknown gunmen.
While the police say investigations are on to arrest and prosecute the perpetrators
The state government on their part has imposed a curfew from 7 pm to 6 am on the affected areas.
The include: Igbariam, Aguleri, Umueri, Nteje, Awkuzu And Umunya Communities.
