Alao-Akala, former governor of Oyo State is dead.

Alao-Akala, former governor of Oyo State is dead.

The details of his death are yet to be made public but sources close to Mr Alao-Akala confirmed his death on Wednesday, veracitydesk.com.ng, said in a report.

Mr Alao-Akala, 71 was born at Ogbomoso, Ogbomoso North local government of the state.

He attended Osupa Baptist Day School, Ogbomoso for his elementary education after which he proceeded to Kamina Barracks Middle School, 5th Battalion of Infantry in Tamale, Ghana.

Mr Alao-Akala the Deputy of Governor Rashidi Ladoja until his impeachment in 2006. He was sworn into office in January 2006 and served for 11 months.

In December 2006, the Supreme Court overturned the impeachment of his former boss, Rashidi Ladoja.

In the 2007 general election, Mr Alao-Akala contested and won under the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and became the Executive Governor of Oyo state till May 2011.
